Rapid growth had resulted in brand fragmentation, muddying their propositions. They needed a brand strategy, brand architecture and refreshed design system that could bring clarity to different parts of their business (Work, Live, Learn) and the importance and impact of what they do.

Change making
Koskela is well-known for bringing expertise to the sustainable design of working and learning environments in Australia, but its offer stretches far beyond furnishings and homewares. Rapid growth had resulted in brand fragmentation, muddying their propositions. They needed a brand strategy, brand architecture and refreshed design system that could bring clarity to the importance of what they do.
Change making
We knew we needed to bring clarity to the Koskela brand by articulating its purpose and positioning through a big picture lense, rather than focusing on products and ranges. The brand idea ‘Change Making’ was put forward to reflect Koskela’s leadership position in driving the circular economy. A one-brand model was created to consolidate all activities under one identity, with three key offer categories of ‘live’, ‘work’ and ‘learn’ to distinguish the three core areas of expertise.
A co-created brand framework
A modular design system that leverages the dimensionality of the ‘K’ graphic in Koskela’s existing logo was created as a device to demonstrates the various connections the brand makes to materiality, quality, provenance, craftsmanship and creativity. The new website information architecture makes it easier for users to better understand all Koskela offers. This is a co-created brand framework that concisely articulates Koskela's ambition, purpose and promise. This is done through a brand architecture, brand narrative, design system, website strategy and information architecture that all reflect the brilliance of Koskela and its legacy.
