Connecting workplaces
We’ve created a unifying and empathetic wayfinding and environmental graphics system for IAG. Their new brand now meaningfully connects workplaces in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne and Brisbane. Working together with IAG and COX Architecture, the project spans new office fit outs and creates a link between the new brand and the interior narrative of ‘New Dawn’.
Future-proofed wayfinding and environmental graphics
We knew our strategic creative solution needed to adopt the interior conceptual direction of ‘consistency and continuity’. The system also needed to align with IAG’s workplace guidelines of connection, belonging and wellness from physical, emotional and social viewpoints. We chose plywood for the overall signage design to add warmth and dimension, tying into the interior fit out scheme as well as IAG’s brand values.
Illustrations as a key visual connector
The placemaking strategy looks to create an engaging graphic trail in the journey from lobby to desk. A large library of illustrative worlds focusing on IAG values were developed and act as the key visual connector between all sites. Purple has been used to embody the feeling of ‘by your side’, representing IAG’s care and presence, and illustrations are high contrast and simple to maximise shadow play and create a bold impact.
The office village
The COX concept of the ‘village’ seamlessly connects geographic locations, introduces elements of life and play into the workplace, and creates a human focus to the design. Our approach was to adopt this thinking into graphics and wayfinding pieces that further enriched this narrative. Site-specific illustrations highlight key landmarks, furthering a sense of belonging and connecting to a sense of everyday life. Signage has been designed to suit more of a market style typology for these village spaces, aligning with the interior design scheme.
